Obituary for Robert W. Sims
Funeral services for Robert W. (Bobby) Sims, 73, of Kershaw will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 15, in the sanctuary of Kershaw Second Baptist Church. Rev. Ronnie Hinson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery.
Mr. Sims passed away peacefully at his home, January 11. Born in Heath Springs, he was a son of the late Jack and Beulah Adams Sims. Mr. Sims retired from DuPont Co. after 33 years and was a member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church. He was known as “Cowboy” to many. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising cows and building Lonesome Oak Farm. In his later years he was known as “Papa” and his love and smile was infectious. Mr. Sims loved to sing, travel and was an avid Clemson Tiger fan. Bob and Judy were married for 50 years. They raised three outstanding daughters and six beautiful grandchildren.
Surviving are his loving wife, Judy Ray Sims of the home; 3 daughters, Dana Sims of Camden, Lori (Rob) Bradshaw of Gloucester, MA, Tina (Danny) White of Clemson; 6 grandchildren, Michael (Bridget) Jones, Megan Jones, Nathaniel Jones, Reid Bradshaw, Sarah Bradshaw and Lucas White; his brother, Scott (Ann) Sims; his sister, Cindy (Ronnie) Catoe both of Heath Springs and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Carol Sims and Linda Bowers.
The family will receive friends, Sunday afternoon, January 14, from 3:00 to 5:00 o’clock p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home.
