Obituary for Rev. Johnny Odell Sullivan
Rev. Johnny Odell Sullivan, 82, of Bethune, S.C., passed away, Friday evening, August 20, 2021, in Providence Health, Columbia, S.C. Born in Bethune, S.C., he was a son of the late Thomas Sullivan and Harriett Horton Sullivan. He was a retired Baptist minister. Rev. Sullivan served churches in New York and West Virginia including, Lawrenceville Baptist Church, Binghamton Baptist Church and Hebron Baptist Church. He also served as interim pastor at the following churches, Shamrock Baptist Church, Harmony Baptist Church and Timrod Baptist Church in Bethune, S.C. and Laurel Hill Baptist Church, Kershaw, S.C. Rev. Sullivan served his country in the United States Army being honorably discharged in 1962.

He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 64 years, Betty Ann Joyner Sullivan; 2 daughters, Jeannie Cannon and Janet McCormack and her husband, Daniel and his son, John W. Sullivan and his wife, Cecilia; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and a sister, Shirley Bair. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Claude Sullivan, Annie Mae Ballard, Ernest Sullivan, Zulene Williams, Eunice Mangum and Richard Sullivan.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Monday, August 23, 2021, in the sanctuary of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Jefferson, S.C. Rev. Terry Corder and Rev. Tim Williams will conduct the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends immediately following the committal service in the church Family Life Center and other times at the family home.

Memorial contributions in memory of Rev. Sullivan may be made to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 2140 McBee Highway, Jefferson, S.C. 29718.
