Obituary for Poovey Mackey
A gathering of friends to remember the life of Poovey Mackey 92, of Heath Springs, will be held at Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw, Tuesday, August 23, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services and burial will be private.

Mr. Mackey died Monday, August 22, at NHC-Parklane, Columbia. Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Edward and Annie Bell Ghent Mackey . Mr. Mackey served in the United States Army during World War II as a Battlefield Medic and received a Purple Heart. He retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Heath Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Allie Mae Starnes Mackey of the home; 3 sons, Allen (Pam) Mackey of Charlotte, NC, Scott (Cheryl) Mackey of Columbia, Robin (Linda) Mackey of Camden; a daughter, Sue Mackey of Heath Springs; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Mackey and 4 sisters, Geneva Knight, Margie Baker, Ruth Roberts and Mary Monroe.
