Obituary for Peter F. Rohr
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Peter Franz “Pete” Rohr, 72, of Heath Springs, will be held at 4:00 o’clock p.m., Sunday, August 2, 2020, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw. Pastor Kenny Pittman will officiate.
The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home.
Peter, aka. Pete, lived in Germany until 1982, when he and his family moved to the United States. He has lived in Heath Springs, S.C. for the last 10 plus years. He was married to the late Sylvia M. Gregory Rohr who predeceased him in 2018.
Mr. Rohr was a loving son, husband, father and Opa, as well as a great friend to many. He passed away, Thursday, July 30, 2020. Born in Ketsch, Germany, he was the son of the late Franz Rohr and Gertrud Gelb Rohr. Peter was a woodworker and craftsman for the majority of his life, learning the trade in Germany as a young man. He used his hands to build beautiful furniture, cabinets, and mantles.
He is survived by his son, Michael and his wife Angela of Monroe, N.C. and his grandson, Aiden Rohr of Monroe, N.C. Also surviving are his brothers, Thomas Rohr and his wife, Anke Rohr, and their children, Niklas Rohr and Katja Rohr; Wolfgang Rohr and his wife, Iris Rohr; Franz Rohr and his children, Jenny Rohr and Christian Rohr all of Germany; his sisters, Ursula Rohr Huber and her husband, Carl Huber, and their children, Susanne Reisinger, Barbara Huber, Stefan Huber, and Heike Parzelsberger, and Simone Rohr Hester and her husband, Uwe Hester and their children, Larissa Hester and Lucas Hester all of Germany.
Peter never met a stranger, and was always doing things for others. He loved working in his yard, listening to country music or his beloved German music. He was a wonderful cook and baker. He was always baking cakes and desserts for everyone on every occasion. He will be missed.
Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
