Funeral services for Oscar Samuel “Sammy” Catoe, Jr., 76 of Camden, will be held at 2:00 o’clock p.m., Thursday, August 29, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw. Rev. Matthew James will officiate. Burial will follow in Lancaster Memorial Park, Lancaster.
Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Oscar Samuel Catoe, Sr. and Lucy Williams Catoe. He retired from Bowater and was a member of Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church. Mr. Catoe was an avid Clemson fan and a member of Jackson Masonic Lodge # 53.
Surviving are his wife, Marie Langley Catoe; a son, Samuel Catoe, III; 2 daughters, Mary Beth Brown and Renee Adkins; a step-daughter, Angie Helms; a step-son, Robbie Hunter; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and 2 sisters, Lyda Davis and Sharon Horton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brothers, Jesse Catoe and Charles Catoe.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday, August 29, beginning at 1:00 o’clock p.m. at the funeral home.
