Obituary for Murray E. Blackmon
Mutt Blackmon of Elgin, S.C., passed away on January 8th, 2020, at the age of 92. Born in Kershaw, he was a son of the late Charles Blackmon and Emmie Robinson Blackmon. Mr. Blackmon was predeceased by brothers James, Mannie, Ernest, Dwight and Glen. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Peggy Marshall Blackmon of Elgin, S.C.; son James Blackmon (Beth) of San Diego Ca.; daughter Sheila B. Lilly (Ed), and son Duane Blackmon (Richard), of Columbia, S.C.; five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be made to Harvest Hope Food Bank or Oliver Gospel Mission of Columbia. The family would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Dorn VA Hospital and Warriors Walk Hospice for the overwhelming care and support provided during his illness. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
