Obituary for Michelle R. Sims
A service to celebrate the life of Michelle Thompson Richards Sims, 64, of Kershaw, will be held at 11:00 o’clock a.m., Saturday, November 18, in the sanctuary of Kershaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. Eugen “Buddy” Bach will officiate. A private interment will be held at a later date in the Kershaw City Cemetery.

Mrs. Sims died peacefully in her sleep, Wednesday, November 15, at her home. Born in Camden, she was a daughter of the late John William “Bill” Richards, Sr. and Dorothy Thompson ”Dot” Richards. She was a registered nurse. Michelle had worked in nursing in Columbia, Lancaster and with Hospice Care. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren most recently. She also enjoyed reading and cross stitching. Michelle was married to the late William Randall “Scoop” Sims who preceded her in death July 31, 2016.

Surviving are her son, Alan Richards Sims and his wife Christina; her daughter, Hayley Sims Payne and her husband Jason; 2 grandchildren, Sailor Sims and Tyndall Payne all of Kershaw; her sister, Cynthia R. “Cindy” Kahler of Taylors, SC and her brother, Dr. John William “Rick” Richards, Jr. of Augusta, GA. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Alan Richards.

The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor. The church parlor is located in the church Fellowship Hall and other times at the home of her son and daughter-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Michelle R. Sims memorial fund, c/o Baker Funeral Home, 210 E. Hilton Street, Kershaw, SC 29067 to help with funeral expenses.
