Melissa Rochelle Ellis, 45, of Mt. Croghan, S.C., passed away, Sunday, April 2, 2023. Born in Camden, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Jacob Ellis and Sherry Ann Todd Hall. Melissa was a technician in the HVAC Industry. She was a graduate of Florence Darlington Technical College. Melissa loved animals, working with her hands and cooking. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family.


She is survived by 4 children, Tyler Carroll and her husband, James of Jefferson, S.C., Jacob Craig of Jefferson, S.C., Austin Craig of Hartsville, S.C. and Ida Craig of Jefferson, S.C. ; her granddaughter, Ashton Carroll of Jefferson, S.C.; her step-father, Abbie Hall of Jefferson, S.C.; her maternal grandfather, Oscar Bryce Todd; her sister, Angela Gainey of Florence, S.C.; her brother, Johnny Gainey and his wife, Kayla of Hartsville, S.C. ; aunt and uncle; Joanne and Johnny “Skibo” Todd of Jefferson, S.C. and 3 nieces and 2 nephews. In addition to her mother and father she was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Sallie Ann Todd; her maternal great grandmother, Ida Jenkins and a nephew, Reece Gainey.


Visitation with the family will be held, Thursday, April 6, 2023, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 210 E. Hilton Street, Kershaw, S.C.


Following the visitation, Thursday, April 6, 2023, the family will hold a memorial service at 5:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, Jefferson, S.C. Rev. Tony Brewer will officiate.


Arrangements are under the care of Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw, S.C.
