Mary Bowers Brown, 78, was called home to glory on Monday June 12, 2023, in Roanoke, VA. Born in Kershaw, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Jack Bowers and Louise Carnes Bowers. She was a very simple person that loved her family wholeheartedly. Her favorite pastime was watching westerns, going through pictures, exploring the family tree, and journalling daily details, which she inherited from her mother. It was her sharp mind and stickler for details that gave her enjoyment in preparing taxes for some of her family. She had a servicing heart when it came to family. If she was physically able, she would be there to help them as best she could. After struggling for so many years trying to get better, she is wrapped in the sweet arms of Jesus, without an oxygen tube and set completely free of pain.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Trish Ashley and her husband, Chip, David Brown, and Sharon Primm and her husband, Steve, all of Salem, VA. Her grandchildren, Whitney Ashley Bass, and her husband Juston, Caleb Brown and his wife Rachel, and Alyssa Kando. Her great-grandchildren Emeri, Ezra and Elijah Bass and Emily Brown; her siblings, Yvette Williams (Gary), Yvonne Johnson, Reba Faile (Vernie), Shirley Hollis (Rudy), Debbie Langley (Carroll) and Kenny Bowers (Molly) and many nieces and nephew.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Brown.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 17th at 2:00 pm at Buffalo Baptist Church, by Pastor Larry Humphries. A burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 1pm-2 pm prior to service at the church.
Arrangements are under the care of Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw, S.C.
