Obituary for Mary Hazel Ray Few
Mary Hazel Ray Few, 78, of Liberty Hill, SC, passed away Tuesday morning, January 27th, 2015, nearly a year after the death of her husband, William Eugene “Coach Bill” Few who passed away February 6th, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, January 29th, 2015, in the sanctuary of Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the Liberty Hill Cemetery. Rev. Mary D. D’Alessio will officiate. Hazel was the daughter of the late Jess and Vaughtie Ray of Rock Hill, SC. Hazel and Bill wed January 27th, 1955, in Rock Hill, SC which began their devoted journey of life. Their fruitful life as well as faithfulness to serving friends and their community will always be remembered. Hazel touched her family and friends by continuing their faithful journey by passing on their 60th wedding anniversary, January 27th, 2015. To all that knew Hazel, knew that her first commitment was to her husband and his successful career. This same strength carries her through a daily journey coping with Parkinson’s in her final years of life. In spite of suffering from the degenerative disorder, she accepted the circumstance with grace, staying committed to serving her family. Surviving are five sons, Martin Alan, Gerald Stephen, Joel Brian, Timothy Scott, Christopher Todd and a daughter, Dr. Suzanne Quinn. Bill and Hazel had a predeceased son, William Eugene. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Chip, Brooke, Todd, Derek, Billy, Jesse, Justin, Stephen, Anna, Bobby, Timothy, Stephanie, Jouji and Madie, three great grandchildren, Trent, Indee and Leon and a older sister, Barbara Jean (Ray) Funderburk of Greenwood, SC. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 29th at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be given to Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church in memory of Mary Hazel Few, P.O. Box 170, Liberty Hill, SC 29074. Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw is serving the Few family.
