Obituary for Mary Fran Hinson
Mary Fran Hinson, 77, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Monday, April 12, 2021, at her home. Born in Greenville, S.C., she was a daughter of the late James Pruitt and Viola McCormick. She was a retired registered nurse. She was employed with Kershaw County Memorial Hospital for 28 years and worked as an EMT for 7 years. She started the Walk for Life in Camden, donating proceeds to the S.C. Leukemia Society. Fran delivered gifts and made a speech in Memphis for St. Jude Children’s Research. She served as nurse of the year at Kershaw County Memorial Hospital in 1990 and was runner-up for Nurse of the year for South Carolina. She appeared on national television for the Leukemia Telethon for 2 years. Fran was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and involved herself in numerous worthy causes. She loved to send cards of encouragement to many people and always offered a smile.

Surviving are her husband of 42 years, Dale Hinson; 2 sons, Bo Dover and his wife, Pamela and Chris Dover; daughter, Holly Walker; 5 grandchildren, Crystal Byrdic Smith and her husband, Doug, Tabitha Dover, Matthew Dover, Iris Kaim and Ivy Kaim; 6 great grandchildren, Taylor, Andrew, Charlee, Dylan, Devin and Sadie and 2 sisters, Joanne Hinson and Dianne Granger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Bobby Dover and her daughter, Rhonda Dover.

The family will receive friends, Wednesday, April 14, 2021, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, April 15, 2021, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Camden, S.C. Rev. Doug Humphries and Rev. Gene Stokes will officiate at the service.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Hinson may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for the South, LLS-Georgia, P.O. Box 735317, Dallas, Texas 75373-5317.
