Obituary for Mary B. Blackmon

Mary Ruth Barber Blackmon, 72, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Sunday evening, March 12, 2023, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, Columbia, S.C. Born in San Antonio, Texas, she was a daughter of the late Wallace Barber and Louise Jones Barber. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Sonlight Community Church of the Nazarene, Lancaster, S.C. Mrs. Blackmon was married to the late Foster C. Blackmon, Jr. who preceded her in death June 18, 2021.


She is survived by her 3 children, Crystal James, Stacy Blackmon and his wife, Crystal and Brandy Blackmon; 4 grandchildren, Niki Graham and her husband, Michael, Travis Blackmon, Chelsey Blackmon and Eric Austin, 4 great grandchildren, Kylie Mooneyham, Genevieve Graham, Waylon Graham and Ellie Rae Graham; 4 sisters, Linda Kitchens and her husband, Danny, Brenda Leathers, Jenny Moree and her husband, Roger and Willie Taylor and 3 brothers, James Allen Barber, Elvis Barber and Brent Barber. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Donald Barber, David Barber, Billy Joe Barker, Joe Barber, Jackie Barber and Jimmy Barber.


The family will receive friends, Wednesday evening, March 15, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home.


A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Blackmon will be held, Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in Fork Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Heath Springs, S.C. Rev. Jerry Branham will officiate. Burial will follow in the cemetery.


Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Blackmon may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.


Arrangements are under the care of Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw, S.C.
