Obituary for Marvin Jones McCaskill, Sr.
Marvin Jones McCaskill, Sr., 86, of Bethune, SC, died June 11, 2016. He was a son of the late Edward Small McCaskill and Maud Jones McCaskill.
A graduate of Bethune High School and a 1951 graduate of Clemson College, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Silver Star. He was a member of Bethune Baptist Church.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 63 years, Esther Ratcliff McCaskill; children, Jean M. (Billy) Boan of Kershaw, Amy McCaskill of West Columbia, Marvin J. “Mac” McCaskill, Jr., of Cassatt, and Edward McCaskill of Bethune. Also surviving are grandchildren, Anna B. (Jack) Rushing of Camden and Daniel B. Boan of Columbia; great grandchildren, William Rushing and Julia Ann Rushing of Camden; sister, Iris M. Estridge; and brothers, Ralph T. McCaskill and E. Smith (Gail) McCaskill, all of Bethune.
A graveside service will be held at Timrod Baptist Church Cemetery, 4227 Timrod Road, Bethune, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall and at the McCaskill home, 709 South Walton Street, Bethune.
