Marjorie Hatfield Matthews, 97, of Raleigh, N.C. and formerly of Kershaw, S.C. for many years passed away, June 1, 2020, after a long battle with dementia. Born in Cassatt, S.C., she was the daughter of Harold B. Hatfield and Nell West Hatfield. She also resided in Camden, S.C., Sumter, S.C. and Charleston, S.C. before moving to Raleigh N.C. to an assisted living facility.
Marjorie enjoyed gardening and was a very highly talented artist. She also enjoyed stylish clothing. She was a former Miss Sumter and was the first runner-up that year in the Miss South Carolina Pageant. She was also a nurse for many years.
She is survived by her son, Bruce Matthews of Raleigh, N.C. and her daughter, Diane Williams of Camden, S.C.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
