Obituary for Marcia W. Plyler
Marcia Elaine Whitaker Plyler, age 72, of Kershaw, S.C., entered the arms of Jesus, Thursday morning, July 28, 2022, at her home. Born in Lancaster S.C., she was a daughter of the late R.V. Whitaker and Florence Payne Whitaker. She was a church secretary for many years and a pianist, serving alongside her husband of 54 years, wherever he ministered. She cherished being a mom to her girls and working with young people. Marcia enjoyed her flowers and gardening. She loved cutting grass. She often referred to her lawn as her “Field of Dreams”. Mrs. Plyler was a member of Midway Baptist Church.

She is survived by her loving and faithful husband, Rev. Larry Plyler; 2 daughters, Holly Plyler Olds and her husband, Doug and Kelly Betenbaugh and her husband, Chris; her brother, Mitch Whitaker; her canine companion, Skeeter; her nephew, Scott McKay and his wife, Jill and their, daughter, Madeline and her cousin and special caregiver, Brenda Ellis. The family would like to thank Providence Care Hospice for the love and care shown to Marcia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Ann McKay and her husband, Ardell.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday morning, July 30, 2022, in Pleasant Plain Baptist Church Cemetery, 3795 Pleasant Plains Road, Kershaw, S.C. The Revs. Scott Robinson, Todd Montgomery, Mrs. Barbara Snipes and Mr. Dennis Phillips will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the cemetery.
