Obituary for Luke S. Deas, Sr.
Funeral services for Luke S. Deas, Sr., 94, of Concord, NC, and formerly of Kershaw, SC, will be held at 3:00 o’clock p.m., Monday, January 2, 2017, in the sanctuary of Abney Baptist Church, Kershaw, SC, where he was a member. Rev. Larry Humphries will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 o’clock p.m., in the church sanctuary.
Mr. Deas, loving husband of the late Thelma Catoe Deas died Saturday, December 31, 2016, at Universal Healthcare, Concord, NC. Born in Kershaw, SC, he was a son of the late Joe and Martha Taylor Deas. Mr. Deas was a farmer and loved to fish. He also enjoyed raising livestock and gardening.
Surviving are 7 children, Bobby J. (Diane) Dease of Kannapolis, NC, Luke S. (Shirley) Dease, Jr. of Kershaw, SC, Patricia D. (David) Wright of Kershaw, SC, Pamela D. (Tommy) Plyler of Jefferson, SC, Polly D. (Michael) Pless of Mount Pleasant, NC, Don E. Dease of Jasper, GA and Brenda D.( Ed) Teems of Talking Rock, GA; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren, and a sister, Wilma Payne of Kannapolis, NC. He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Ray Dease, Sr.; a daughter, Peggy Sue Dease, and 2 grandchildren, Christopher Dease and Kimberly Dease.
