Obituary for Leon Elliott Mackey, Sr.
Graveside services for Leon Elliott “Speedy” Mackey, Sr., 74 of the Elgin community, Lancaster, SC, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2015, in Beaver Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Stoneboro Road, Heath Springs, SC. Mr. Mackey died Monday, January 12, 2015, in Heath Springs Residential Care Center, Heath Springs, SC. Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late John W. and Doreen Vanlandingham Mackey. He was a brick mason. Mr. Mackey was also a member of Fork Hill Baptist Church, Heath Springs, SC. Surviving are his two sons, Leon “Lee” Mackey, Jr. of Littleton, CO, David Mackey of Lancaster, SC; four grandchildren, Clisty Gibson, Jessica Mackey, Daniel Mackey and Deanna Mackey and two brothers, William Mackey of Heath Springs, SC and Gene Mackey of Wabeno,Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Mackey. The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the church Fellowship Hall. Friends may call for a viewing on Friday, January 16, 2015, from noon until 5:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.
