Obituary for Lawrence Edward "Larry" Smith, Jr.
Lawrence Edward “Larry” Smith, Jr., 77, of Cassatt, S.C., passed away, Sunday, February 14, 2021, at his home. Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Lawrence Edward Smith, Sr. and Dora Lee Brown Smith. He retired from the DuPont Co. and was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and the Old Geezer Club. Mr. Smith loved to write lyrics to music. He also loved to fish, hunt, golf and shop at estate sales. Most importantly, he cherished the time he spent with his family, grandchildren and friends. Mr. Smith also served in the Army National Guard.
Surviving are his loving wife of 31 years, Janet Yarborough Smith; 4 children, Lawrence E. “Trey” Smith, III and his wife, Chastity, Misty Smith, Eric Miles and Stephanie Miles; 12 grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Barbara S. Smith and Pam S. Julian and her husband, Dave and 4 brothers, Glen Smith and his wife, Nancy, Jerry Smith and his wife, Vicki, Jimmy Smith and his wife, Debra and Philip Smith and his wife, Cynde. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, G.W. Smith.
A private service will be held in Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Rev. Steve Leigh will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Smith may be made to Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 1684 Old Georgetown Road West, Cassatt, S.C. 29032.
Friends may pay their respects and sign the register book, Tuesday, February 16, 2021, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw, S.C.
