Obituary for Kever Thomas Catoe
Kever Thomas Catoe, 90, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Friday evening, January 14, 2022, at his home. Born May 22, 1931, in Kershaw, S.C., he was a son of the late Samuel Nezzie Catoe and Tressie Irene Garris Catoe. Mr. Catoe retired from Leroy Springs Recreation Department and was a faithful member of Center Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved the outdoors and cutting grass.
Mr. Catoe is survived by his 4 children, Judy Geiger of Kershaw, S.C., Carol Payne of Kershaw, S.C., Thomas Ray Catoe and his wife, Michele of Columbia, S.C. and James Patrick Catoe and his wife, Brenda of Kershaw, S.C.; 3 grandchildren, D.J. (Patty) Payne, Miranda C. (Andrew) Laney and Trent (Savannah) Catoe; 4 great grandchildren, Eric, Wyatt, Luke and Paxton; his brother, Will (Joann) Catoe of Heath Springs, S.C. and 2 sisters, Edith Burton and Patricia Huffstetler both of Lexington, S.C. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rena Faile Catoe; a granddaughter, Hope Payne, a grandson, Chris Geiger; his son-in-law, Jackie Geiger and siblings, Arthur “Budge” Catoe, Alvin Randy Catoe, Audrey Catoe, Robert Bob Catoe, Elvriee Rice and David Catoe, Sr.
The family will greet friends, Tuesday afternoon, January 18, 2022, from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held following the greeting of friends at 2:00 p.m. in Kershaw City Cemetery, 190 Kirkland Ave., Kershaw, S.C. Rev. Mitchell Austin will officiate. Burial will follow the service in the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask for memorial donations be made to Center Grove Baptist Church, 6028 Center Grove Road, Kershaw, S.C. 29067 or First Baptist Church, 1306 Hampton Street, Columbia, S.C. 29201.
