A funeral service for Kennie D. “Gator” Hendrix, 56, of Kershaw, will be held at 11:00 o’clock a.m., Tuesday, August 29, in Potter’s House Church, Kershaw, where he was a member. The Revs. Eddie Wheeler, Cotton Pate and Charles Moseley will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hendrix died Wednesday, August 23, in Springs Memorial Hospital, Lancaster. Born in Jacksonville, FL, he was a son of the late Henry C. and Ora Pauline Bailey Hendrix. He was a employee of a sawmill. Mr. Hendrix loved to fish, deer hunt and woodworking.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Cardwell Hendrix; a son, Jeremiah Adam Hendrix all of the home; a step-son, Pete Wright and his wife Kathy of Kershaw; his twin brother, Bennie R. Hendrix of Jacksonville, FL; his sister, Evelyn L. Talada and her husband Leon of Memphis, TN; special god-son, Josh Dortch and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Henry C. Hendrix, Jr., Alton C. Hendrix and 3 sisters, Warnetta Marie Ball, Katherine M. Feagle and Janet Eileen Newell.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Tuesday, August 29, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
