Obituary for Karen Lynn Thompson
Karen Lynn Robinson Thompson, 67, of Heath Springs, S.C., passed away, Thursday morning, August 25, 2022, with her family by her side. Karen was a homemaker by heart but had worked many places in various capacities. Born in Camden, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Carl Leonard Robinson, Sr. and Virginia Horton Robinson. She was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School, a faithful member of Hanging Rock United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. She also was a volunteer for K.A.R.E.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Roger “Wild Man” Thompson; her son, Dale Thompson; 3 sisters, Jean (Haskell) Hightower of Kershaw, S.C., Eleanor Driskell of Kershaw, S.C. and Barbara (Donnie) Busbee of Cayce, S.C.; 4 brothers, Carl L. (Marlene) Robinson, Jr., Larry (Pat) Robinson, Raymond (Joyce) Robinson and Roland (Sally) Robinson all of Kershaw, S.C. and a sister-in-law, Peggy Thompson of Heath Springs, S.C. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Rita Robinson and Vivian Hightower and her husband, Mitchell: her mother and father-in-law, Wallace and Mildred Thompson and 3 brothers-in-law, William Thompson, Gary Thompson and Dick Driskell.
The family will hold a memorial service to celebrate her life, Sunday, August 28, 2022, at 3:00 o’clock p.m. in the sanctuary of Hanging Rock United Methodist Church, 7184 Hanging Rock Road, Kershaw, S.C. The Revs. Eddie Usher and Todd Gandy will officiate.
The family will greet friends following the service on the front lawn of the church.
