Obituary for Joyce Delane Champion
Funeral services for Joyce Delane Champion, 76, of Kershaw will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 22, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. The Rev. Ronnie Hinson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
Mrs. Champion, widow of Jack Edward Champion, Sr., died Wednesday, October 19, at PalmettoHealth Richland, Columbia. Born in Charlotte, N.C., she was a daughter of the late James and Julia Gasmire. She attended Kershaw Second Baptist Church as was a homemaker. Mrs. Champion enjoyed word searches, jigsaw puzzles and cooking for her family. Surviving are 6 children, Debra Phillips of Kershaw, Donna Montgomery and her husband Kenneth of Aiken, Gwen Austin and her husband Donnie of Kershaw, Jack Champion, Jr. and his wife Ann of Heath Springs, Lisa Bottonfield and her husband Eric of Camden and Richard Champion and his wife Cheryl of Oakdale, W. VA; 11 grandchildren, Jessica (Thomas) Samuels, Brittany (Marty) Hinson, Ashley (Brandon) Croy, Chelsea, Jonah and Casey Montgomery, Brianna and Chad Austin, Jack Champion, III, Brandon and Braxton Champion; 2 great grandchildren, Kole Samuels and Trey Hinson. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ilene Evans.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
