Obituary for John Wade Vincent
Funeral services for John Wade “Shorty” Vincent, 78 of Kershaw, SC will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 22, 2014 in the sanctuary of Buffalo Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. Ray Lowe and James Way will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the burial service in the Church Family Life Center and other times at the home, 439 Sunshine Lane, Kershaw. Mr. Vincent died Thursday, June 19, 2014 in Palmetto Health Richland Hospital, Columbia. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late Leonard and Pet Catoe Vincent. He retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. Mr. Vincent was a former Sunday school teacher, deacon and a member of Abney Masonic Lodge # 211. He also enjoyed working part-time at the Kershaw Country Club and playing golf. Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Edith Threatt Vincent of the home; a grandson, Jonathan Vincent of Kershaw; a son-in-law, Pete Kinard of Blackstock; two brothers, Clarence Vincent of Kershaw, Bruce Vincent of Huntsville, AL and a sister, Catherine Davis of Camden. He was preceded in death by both of his children, Jan V. Kinard and Johnny Leon Vincent. Memorials may be made to Buffalo Baptist Church, Building Fund, 6390 Lockhart Road, Kershaw, SC 29067. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Curtis Vincent Sunday School Class and friends from Kershaw Country Club.
