Obituary for Joe Earl Williams

Joe Earl Williams, age 86, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Friday evening, June 2, 2023, at his home. Born in Kershaw, S.C., he was a son of the late Dendy Williams and Eva Coates Williams. Mr. Williams was a former employee of J.P. Stevens, retiring after 32 years, and a former employee of Springs Industries, retiring after 13 years. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, Westville, S.C. Mr. Williams loved to have a project and remain active and busy. He enjoyed riding his golf cart around the neighborhood visiting. His favorite pastime was sitting in his shop talking with his brothers and friends who stopped in.


He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Peggy Robinson Williams; his daughter, Donna W. Cauthen and her husband, Mark of Broadway, N.C. and 2 granddaughters who he adored, Sally Cauthen Murr and her husband, Jeremy of Sanford, N.C. and Caroline Cauthen of Broadway, N.C.; his brother, John Henry Williams and his wife, Carol of Kershaw, S.C. and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Danny Joe Williams and siblings, Quinn Williams, Mendel Williams, Donald Williams, and Margie Williams Farmer.


A celebration of life funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 5, 2023, on his 87th birthday, in Bethany Baptist Church, Westville, S.C. Rev. Craigan Blankenship officiate. A burial will follow in the church cemetery.


The family will receive and greet friends following the committal service in the church Family Life Center.
