Obituary for Joe Bennett Martin, Jr.
Funeral services for Joe Bennett Martin, Jr., 72 of Jefferson, SC will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 1, 2015, in New Haven Baptist Church, Jefferson, SC. Rev. Michael Arant will officiate. Burial will follow in the Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Kershaw, SC. Mr. Martin died Monday, December 29, 2014, at PalmettoHealth Baptist, Columbia, SC. Born in Ansonville, NC, he was a son of the late Joe. B., Sr. and Mary Hilderbrand Martin. Mr. Martin was the owner of VIP Power Cleaning Systems and a member of New Haven Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Laura “Diane” Payne Martin of the home; his daughter, Anita Winfield (Kenneth) ; a son, Doug Martin (Lisa) both of Polkton, NC; a brother, Barry Martin (Jo) of Ansonville, NC; a sister, Nancy Horton (Orrin) of Ramseur, NC; four grandchildren, Kevin and Gary Winfield and Craig and Craisen Martin; five great grandchildren; a step-son, Bryan Estridge of Kershaw, SC. He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Martin and a step-son, Steven Estridge. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday, January 1, 2015, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the church and other times at the home, 127 N. Hampton Street, Jefferson, SC.
