Obituary for Jimmy Horton
Funeral services for Jimmy Horton, 82, of Bethune, SC, will be held MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2018, at 11:00 am in Shamrock Baptist Church, Bethune. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. Jackie Knight and Billy Coates will officiate.
Mr. Horton, widow of Hazel Lynn Horton, died Monday, October 22, at his home. Born in Bethune, he was a son of the late Clyde and Florence Barfield Horton. Mr. Horton was the owner of Horton’s Grocery and Wrecker Service and a member of Shamrock Baptist Church. He loved frog gigging, fishing, shooting doves, and riding in the country. He was also a US Army veteran.
Surviving are his daughter, Patty Horton Hidy and her husband Joseph “Joe” of Dayton, Ohio; his son, Jay Horton of Bethune; 4 grandchildren, Josh Klinect, Carson Hidy, Tayte Hidy and Reese Hidy; his brother, Robert (Joyce) of Lugoff and his sister, Joyce Ann (Kenneth) McLean of Blythewood. He was predeceased by a daughter, Pamela Horton Klinect and sisters, Vera Kay Cockrell and Nancy Newcome.
The family will receive friends following the service in “The White House” at the church.
