Obituary for Jasper Baker
Funeral services for William Jasper Baker, 92 of Kershaw will be held at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2014, in the sanctuary of Kershaw Second Baptist Church. The Revs. Jamie Rogers and Don Knight will officiate. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery with military honors. Mr. Baker, widower of Evelyn Mackey Baker died Saturday, January 25, 2014. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late George Walter and Odessa Roberts Baker. He retired from Springs Industries after 40 years of service. Mr. Baker enjoyed farming and raising chickens. He was a US Army World War II veteran and faithful member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church. Surviving are 2 daughters, Jeanette B. Pittman and her husband David, Sherie B. Russell and her husband Allen all of Kershaw; 4 grandchildren, Dru M. Pittman (Jacqueline) of Cayce, Twila L. Santaniello (Mark) of Cornelius, N.C., Danielle R. Coley (Brent) of Kershaw, Caleb T. Russell (Brooke) of Kershaw; 3 great grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Pittman, Sarah Walker Pittman, Lillian Grace Santaniello; 2 brothers, Perry Baker (Dorothy) and Walter Baker, Jr. (Maxine) all of Kershaw. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, James Cleo Baker, Robert Doc “R.D” Baker and 2 sisters, Nannie Lee B. Faulkenberry and Loutee B. Faulkenberry. The family will receive friends Tuesday, one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:30 p.m. in the church Family Life Center and other times at 873 Baxley Pond Road, Kershaw. The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers for the past 5 years and the nurses and staff White Oak Manor and Regency Hospice for the love and care shown to Mr. Baker in recent months.
