Obituary for James "Jim" McClain
James "Jim" McClain, 73, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Thursday, May 27, 2021, in Providence Hospital, Columbia, S.C. Born in Kershaw County, he was a son of the late John McClain and Ila Blockover McClain. Mr. McClain was a maintenance technician in the textile industry.

Surviving is his loving wife of 30 years, Linda Faile McClain; his children, Cathy (Jessie) Mackey, James Horace McClain, Jr., Angie (Larry) Jordan, Ronnie (Mandy) Allen, Chrissti (Eric) Sammons and Mikey McClain; 19 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 1 on the way and 2 sisters, Francis Faile and Fannie Bass. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 6 brothers, Boyd, Wesley, TC, Willie, John and Henry McClain and 3 sisters, Maggie Wright, Joanna Mosley Williams and Nellie Bass.

Mr. McClain fought a long battle with lung disease but never complained or gave up. He truly loved the life he had with all of his family. He was well loved by everyone who new him. He was a true hero to his children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held, Monday, May 31, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. The Revs. David Thompson and Bobby Massey will officiate.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. McClain may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Heart of Hospice, 7 Technology Circle, Suite 200, Columbia, S.C. 29203.
