Obituary for James David Sowell
Funeral services for James David Sowell, 87, of Kershaw, S.C., will be held at 4:00 o’clock p.m., Saturday, July 24, 2021, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends following the chapel service at the funeral home and other times at their home.
Mr. Sowell will be buried following the visitation in Kershaw City Cemetery.
Mr. Sowell, loving husband of 67 years to Emily Stevens Sowell, passed away, Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Camden, S.C., he was a son of the late Thomas Benjamin Sowell and Eula Mae Faile Sowell. He first retired from Springs Industries, Lancaster Plant and second from the Town of Kershaw, water department. He was a faithful member of Center Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed tinkering with old cars.
Surviving in addition to his wife is 2 daughters, Vickie Lynn (Howard) Geiger, Patty (Mike) Brown; a son, Tommy (Judy) Sowell; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great- great grandchildren and 2 sisters, Bonnie Holden and Sara Steele. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mitchell Sowell; a granddaughter, Jennifer Kay Moseley; 3 brothers, J.T Sowell, Lloyd “Brother” Sowell and Bobby Sowell and 2 sisters, Shirley Faulkenberry and Mary Nell Sowell.
