Obituary for James Anthony Amerson, Sr.
A funeral service for James Anthony “Andy” Amerson, Sr., 56 of Sumter, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 27, in Eastside Baptist Church, Sumter. The Rev. George Smith will officiate.
Mr. Amerson died Thursday, October 22, at his home. Born in Sumter, he was a son of Agnes Jordan Amerson and the late James Monroe Amerson. He was a carpenter and a painter. Andy lived his life to the fullest. He was not scared of anything and he could do just about anything. Andy will be truly missed.
Surviving are his wife, Debra Brooks Amerson; a daughter, Samantha Amerson-McElveen; 2 sons, James Anthony Amerson, Swade Corbet Amerson; a step-daughter, Ladonna Brooks Murray; 4 grandchildren, Alexis Amerson, Caleb Amerson-Browder, Isabelle Amerson and James Eric Amerson-McElveen; a brother, Richard Monroe “Ricky” Amerson; 2 sisters, Cindy Amerson Lynch, Vickie Amerson Price and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church sanctuary.
A viewing will be held beginning at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October, 27 prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
