Obituary for Ira B. Hunter
A informal gathering to celebrate the life of Ira B. Hunter, will be held at 3:00 o’clock p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2017, in Sand Hill Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, Kershaw, SC. Rev. Dr. Carl Hunter will lead the celebration service.
Mr. Hunter died Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at his home. Born in the Buffalo Township of Kershaw, SC, he was a son of the late William Ernest and Ruth Roberts Hunter. Mr. Hunter was a graduate of Mt. Pisgah High School and of Baptist faith. Mr. Hunter had worked at the Lancaster and Chester Hospitals as a nursing assistant. He also had worked for the Kershaw County School District, Springs Industries and Caro Knit.
Surviving are his children, Michael (Sherry) Hunter of Kershaw, SC, Kyle (Erica) Hunter of Kershaw, SC, Brianne (Kevin) Fletcher of Unionville, Va., and Cody Hunter of Kershaw, SC; grandchildren, Kristen Galuppi (Greg), Beth Gibson, Stephanie Rollings (Catlin), Kayla Hunter, Katelyn and Trenton Fletcher; great grandchildren Hunter Gibson, Sara Jane Rollings, and Dallas Gibson; siblings, Barbara “Tip” Carnes (TC ) of Lancaster, SC, Tom Hunter (Gail) of Kershaw, SC, Sue (Doug) Humphries, Kershaw, SC, Rev. Carl (Rilda) Hunter, Franklin, NC and special friend and caretaker, Margaret Starnes of Pageland, SC. He was preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Vida Hunter; his siblings, Almetta Estridge, Annette Hunter, Bobby Hunter, Pauline Taylor, Earl Hunter and Jack Hunter.
