Obituary for Harold Joe Phillips
Funeral services for Harold Joe Phillips, age 85, of Kershaw, will be held at 2:00 o’clock p.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2019, in the sanctuary of Laurel Hill Baptist Church. Rev. Michael Owens and Pastor Joey Phillips will conduct the service. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery with military honors.

Mr. Phillips passed away, Sunday morning, October 20, 2019, at his home. Born in Kershaw, he was a son of the late Samuel Steve Phillips and Annie Bell Rollins Phillips. Mr. Phillips retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Haile Gold Mine Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. He was a mason and enjoyed fishing and playing softball with his boys. Mr. Phillips also loved all types of sports and was a US Air Force veteran.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Earlene Cauthen Phillips, 2 sons, Joey (Sebrina) Phillips and Keith (Donna) Phillips; 6 grandchildren, Ashley Phillips, Logan Phillips, Haleigh (Seth) Phillips, Johannah Phillips, Grey Phillips and Alex Jackson; 4 great grandchildren, Jayden Knight, Katelyn Knight, Tyson Phillips and Maia Phillips and a brother, Marcus Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Robert Phillips, Pauline Bailey, Ina McCoy, Silivia Hinson, Wendell Phillips and Sam Phillips.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Tuesday, October 22, 2019, beginning at 1:00 o’clock p.m. at the church and other times at the home.
