Obituary for Grady Cole Robinson
On Friday morning, August 13, 2021, Jesus Christ called home to Heaven his good and faithful servant Grady Cole Robinson, 82, of Heath Springs, SC. Grady was born in, lived his entire life, and died in the community of Flint Ridge. He was the son of the late John Dickson and Gladys Irene Reeves Robinson, also of Flint Ridge.
Along with his parents, waiting at the gates of Heaven to welcome Grady home were his brothers John Lake Robinson and Thomas Hazel Robinson, his sisters Virginia Dare Robinson Funderburk and Mary Edna R. Roberts and his beloved son Jason Cole Robinson.
Grady is survived by his beautiful and loving wife of 55 years, Shirley Jean Payne Robinson of the home, his daughter, Kerri Jean Robinson Watts and her husband Dan and their sons Owen Reilly and Aidan Robinson Watts of Elgin, SC, his grandsons also of Flint Ridge, Joshua Cole and Cameron Jay Robinson, a sister, Annie Elizabeth “Sister” Robinson Stover of Union, SC, and his aunt, Beatrice Reeves Threatt of Lancaster, SC.
The patriarch of the Robinson Family, Grady also leaves behind a large extended family of nieces and nephews; the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of his brothers and sisters, several “adopted daughters”, and many other close relatives and loved ones.
Grady was a life-long member of Flint Ridge Baptist Church where he served as deacon and Sunday School teacher for almost 50 years. He graduated from Health Springs High School in 1957, then proudly served in the United States Army during peacetime between the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Grady worked for Bowater, Inc. in Catawba, SC for over 40 years as a crane operator in the Woodyard and in his spare time cut and hauled pulpwood with his very own truck. After retirement Grady spent his time working in the garden, cutting wood and on the tractor. He always loved the time he was able to spend with his wife and family and his grandsons over the years.
To accommodate for distancing due to Covid, the celebration of life service for Mr. Robinson will be held in the Family Life Center of Flint Ridge Baptist Church, Heath Springs, SC at 4pm on Monday, August 16, 2021 with burial immediately following in the church cemetery. The Reverends Jerry Broughton and Danny Martin will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the burial in the Family Life Center.
