Obituary for Grace Eubanks Gainey
Funeral services for Grace Eubanks Gainey, 72, of Bethune will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, 2014, in Timrod Baptist Church, Bethune. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. Jim Wallace and Jackie Knight will officiate. Mrs. Gainey, loving wife of Curtis Gainey died Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital, Columbia. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late Cleo and Edna Catoe Eubanks. Mrs. Gainey retired from SC DHEC Kershaw County Health Department as a maternal and child health nurse after 35 years of service. She was active in the Eastern Star and Bethune Woman’s Club. She also did mission work in Honduras. Mrs. Gainey was a member of Timrod Baptist Church and was actively involved as a Sunday School teacher and choir member. She was a loyal member of the Gamecock Club and lifetime fan. Mrs. Gainey enjoyed traveling, church activities, community service and spending time with her family and friends. Surviving in addition to her husband of Bethune are 3 children, Burton Gainey and his wife Christy of Fort Mill, Jenny Gainey of Kershaw and Derrick Gainey of Rock Hill; 3 grandchildren, Hannah , Chase and Jack Gainey and a special nephew, Roger Benton. Also surviving are 3 sisters; Pauline Mangum, Myrtis Newman and Judy Roach and a brother, John Eubanks all of Bethune. The family will receive friends, Monday evening March 3, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw and other times at the home, 4731 Timrod Rd., Bethune. Memorial contributions may be made to Timrod Baptist Church, 4227 Timrod Road, Bethune, S.C. 29009
