Obituary for Grace A. Catoe
A funeral service for Grace Adams Catoe, 89 of Kershaw, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2015, in the sanctuary of Center Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Jackie Jenkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the Center Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Catoe passed away peacefully at her home Friday, June 12. She was born September 2, 1925, in Kershaw, SC to the late Rev. George and Lula Faile Adams. The last decade she lived with her son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Joyce Catoe, who provided care for her in her declining years. She was the last living member of her childhood family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers and sisters; her husband, A.C. Catoe, November 14, 2001 and two sons, Douglas Stanley Catoe, of Baton Rouge, LA August 11, 2008, and Baby Catoe at birth. Surviving are one son, Rev. Dr. Sam Catoe and his wife Joyce of Kershaw; a grandson, Mr. Colin Catoe and his wife Elyse of Kingwood, TX; a great grandson, Jonah Stanley Catoe of Kingwood, TX, and a daughter-in-love, Connie Cole Catoe Miller of Lake Charles, LA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary. Memorials may be made to Center Grove Baptist Church, P.O. Box 236, Kershaw, SC 29067. A special thank you to Pastor Jackie Jenkins and Center Grove Baptist Church, Dr. Cynthia Wilberding, Sentinel Health Partners, Kershaw, SC, Tri-County Hospice; especially nurse Renda and caregivers, Mary Elizabeth ”Lib” Catoe and Gail Adams for sitting on days when Sam and Joyce were out of town.
