Obituary for George Allen Sims
Funeral services for George Allen Sims, 87 of Elloree, SC will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2015, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Rev. Bryant D. Fersner will officiate. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery with Masonic rites. Mr. Sims a resident of Elloree for the past 30 years died Sunday, May 31st, 2015, at WildeWood Downs, Columbia. Born in Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Bill and Lula Faile Sims. He was a 20 year employee of Springs Industries and retired from Honeywell as a industrial mechanic. He was lifetime member of Dentsville Masonic Lodge No. 398 and a member of Omar Temple. Mr. Sims was a 1947 graduate of Flat Creek High School and of Baptist faith. He also was a former Sunday School teacher and a avid fisherman. Surviving are his wife, Melvedene Conner Sims; his daughter, Mrs. Archie (Martha) White of Columbia; a grandson, Lt. Col. Brian White, USMC and his wife Monica of Fairfax, VA; three sisters, Vera L. Gerkins of Stanley, NC, Mildred S. Kinsey of Mint Hill, NC and Nita S. Yates of Huntersville, NC , and a brother, Lewis (Jabo) Sims of Kershaw. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 3, prior to the service beginning at 12 noon until 12:45 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, P.O. Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648-1178.
