Obituary for G. C. Truesdale, Jr.
Graveside services for Grover C. Truesdale, Jr. , 97, of Heath Springs, will be held at 1:00 o’clock p.m., Saturday, December 15. Rev. Bill McCown will officiate. Mr. Truesdale died Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at his home. Born in the Stoneboro community of Heath Springs, he was a son of the late Grover C. Truesdale, Sr. and Hettie Denton Truesdale.
The family will greet friends immediately following the graveside service in the cemetery.
Mr. Truesdale was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, a member of Baron Masonic Lodge for 70 years and a World War II Army veteran. He was also the owner of Heath Springs Lumber Co. and enjoyed gardening. Mr. Truesdale was married to the late Mary Elizabeth Mackey Truesdale who predeceased him in 2008, married one week shy of sixty years.
Surviving are his daughter, Donna T. Spencer and her husband Gene; his son, Andrew “Andy” Truesdale; 2 grandchildren, Jeffrey Spencer and his wife Lisa, Elizabeth Bernthal and her husband Steve; 2 great grandchildren, Landon and Sloane Spencer and his brother, Mike Truesdale and his wife Pat. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, PO Box 36, Heath Springs, SC 29058.
