Obituary for Frances V. Hammond
Frances Vincent Hammond, 100, of Kershaw, S.C., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at White Oak Manor – Lancaster, Lancaster, S.C. Born in the Charlesboro Community of Kershaw, S.C. on June 17, 1920, to the late William Marion Vincent and Babe Morgan Vincent. She was married to the late Mendel Hugh Hammond.

She was a lifelong resident of Kershaw. Mrs. Hammond was employed with Springs Mills for 22 years. She farmed and helped take care of her siblings and her parents. She was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church and loved her Lord and Savior. Mrs. Hammond was very proud she went back to school and graduated in 1975 with a high school diploma.

She is survived by nieces including, Judy (Harold) Catoe of Kershaw, S.C., Barbara (Bobby) Doss of Lancaster, S.C., Jackie Vincent of Westville, S.C., Gayle Hunter of Lancaster, S.C.; nephews, Clyde Vincent, Jr. of Heath Springs, S.C., William Vincent of Westville, S.C. and many other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a great niece, Lynda (Jeff) Watson; great-great niece, Mallory Watson; great-great nephew, Sidney (Charley) Watson and their son, Maverick; 2 nieces-in-law, Teresa Vincent and Brenda Vincent.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Alma Vincent, Lula Vincent, Georgia Vincent, Alice Vincent, Lucille Vincent; 2 brothers, Clyde Vincent, Sr., Sidney Vincent and J.W. Vincent; a niece; Joan Carolyn Vincent; 5 nephews, Douglas Vincent, James R. “Jimmy” Vincent, Gerald Vincent, Daniel “Tucker” Vincent and Johnny Vincent.

The family would like to thank Center Grove Baptist Church and Kershaw Second Baptist Church for all the cards, calls and prayers. They would also like to thank the staff of White Oak Manor – Lancaster and Providence Care Hospice, Rock Hill for the exceptional love and care shown to Mrs. Hammond.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 10, 2021, in Kershaw City Cemetery. The Revs. Mike Hammond, her nephew and Mr. Mitchell Austin will officiate. He great niece, Tonya Vincent will be the soloist. Burial will follow in the cemetery.

Friends may pay their respects and sign the register, Sunday, January 10, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home prior to the service. The family will not be present at the funeral home.
