Obituary for Frances D. Barrett

Frances D. Barrett, age 79, of Jefferson, S.C., passed away, Tuesday, July 25, 2023, in Lancaster Health and Rehabilitation Center, Lancaster, S.C. Born in the Flat Creek Township of Lancaster County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Thurlow D. Dixon and Kathleen Eubanks Dixon. Mrs. Barrett was formerly employed with Spring Industries in Kershaw, S.C. and was a caregiver. She loved baking cakes and visiting and singing at various nursing homes with her late husband. In her earlier years she was an excellent seamstress.


She is survived by two sons, Clint W. Barrett and his wife, Tracie, Mitchell W. Barrett and his wife, Amy: six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Collins and her husband, Junior and her brother, James Leonard Dixon and his wife, Doris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude W. Barrett and her son, Donald Clayton Barrett.


The family will greet friends, Saturday, July 29, 2023, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. in Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church sanctuary. The casket will be placed in the church at 2:00 p.m.


The funeral service for Mrs. Barrett will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Rev. Charles Watkins and Gordon Gainey will officiate. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.


Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Barrett may be made to Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church, 1616 McBee Highway, Jefferson, S.C. 29718.


Arrangements are under the care of Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw, S.C.
