Obituary for Foster C. Blackmon, Jr.
Foster C. Blackmon, Jr., 71, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Friday, June 18, 2021, in Prisma Health Richland Hospital, Columbia, S.C. Born in Lancaster, S.C., he was a son of the late Foster C. Blackmon, Sr. and Lessie Lee Poston Blackmon. Mr. Blackmon was a pipefitter. He loved to hunt, fish and collect antique pocket watches. Mr. Blackmon also served his country in the United States Army.
Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Mary Ruth Barber Blackmon; 2 daughters, Crystal M. James and her 2 children, Niki (Michael) Graham and Eric Austin and Brandy Blackmon all of Kershaw, S.C.; his son, Stacy Blackmon and his wife, Crystal and their 2 children, Travis Blackmon and Chelsey Blackmon and 1 great grandchild, Kylie Mooneyham all of Kershaw, S.C.
Also surviving are his 5 siblings, Michael Jerry Blackmon and his wife, Kay, Kathy Langley, Terry Sims and her husband, Bobby, Vicki Blackmon and James Eric Blackmon all of Heath Springs, S.C.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Edith Surett, Shirley Williams and Linda Ross and a brother, Berry Blackmon.
The family will receive friends, Monday evening, June 21, 2021, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2021, in Fork Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Heath Springs, S.C. Pastor Jerry Branham will officiate. Burial will follow in the cemetery with military honors.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Blackmon may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
