Obituary for Evelyn S. Horton
Funeral services for Evelyn Sowell Horton, 89 of Kershaw will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 12, 2014, in the sanctuary of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Jefferson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. Todd Horton and Mike Hammond will officiate. Mrs. Horton, widow of Thomas Henry Horton died Thursday, January 9, 2014, at her daughters home. Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Inez Johnson Sowell. She retired from The Kendall Co. , was a graduate of Mt. Pisgah High School and a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. She also enjoyed raking leaves and working puzzles. Surviving are 2 daughters, Patsy Jordan of Lancaster, Cindy Truesdale of Camden and a son, Roger Horton of Lugoff; 6 grandchildren, Billy Ray Jordan, Jr., T.J. Horton (Kathrine), Katy Horton, Steven Truesdale, Teresa Pate and Scott Truesdale; 11 great grandchildren, Brittany Hurlburt (Mark), Breanna Jordan, Billy Ray Jordan, III, Heather Jordan, Kayla Pritchard (Ronald), Chris Laws (Joanna), Elijah Dixon, Keegan Horton , John Horton, Abby Horton and Hannah Horton; 3 great-great grandchildren, Nicholas, Allison and Emma Laws and a sister, Bobbie Lou Catoe and her husband Lee of Columbia. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mae Roberts and 3 brothers, Hazel, J.T. and Ralph Sowell. The family will receive friends, Saturday, January 11, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home, 1799 Jones Rd., Kershaw. Memorials may be made to Mt.
