Obituary for Ernest Doson Taylor
Funeral services for Ernest Doson Taylor, 89 of Kershaw will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2014, in the sanctuary of Abney Baptist Church. The Revs. Larry Plyler and David Turner will officiate. Burial will follow with military honors in the church cemetery. Mr. Taylor, widower of Mary Katherine Mills Taylor died Monday, April 7, 2014, in KershawHealth, Camden. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late John James and Leacy Haywood Taylor. Mr. Taylor was retired from Springs Industries, a member of Abney Baptist Church and a United States Navy World War II veteran. He enjoyed working in his garden, fox hunting, watching NASAR and all types of sports. Surviving are his son, Carroll Taylor and his wife Linda of Kershaw; his daughter, Kay T. McManus and her husband Bruce of Lancaster; 3 grandchildren, Troy West and his wife Cassie, Erica Grasser and her husband Kenneth all of Columbia and Sarah Linden and her husband Brandon of Mt. Pleasant; a great grandson, Jack Linden; 3 sisters, Katherine Taylor of Kershaw, Gussie Keziah of Great Falls and Drucilla McManus of Lancaster. He was predeceased by 9 brothers and sisters. The family will receive friends following the committal service in the church fellowship hall and other times at his home, 4693 Bethune Rd., Kershaw. Memorials may be made to Abney Baptist Church, 5180 Bethune Rd., Kershaw, SC 29067.
