Eldridge Welch Horton, age 84, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away unexpected at his home on Thursday, October 13th, 2022. He was the son of the late Eldridge Hartsill and Mozelle Welsh Truesdale. He was reared by his late aunt Gladys Truesdale and Hampton R. Horton. He was preceded in death by his son, Chet A. Horton. In addition, his brother Cuthbert (Cup) Horton, sisters, Margaret Outen and Frances Holley, and brothers; Bobby Ward, Bilber and Steve Truesdale.
He is survived by his brother, Bruce T. Horton and brother-in-law, Wilson Holley. His stepmother, Lois Truesdale, half brothers, Hartsill, Roger and half sister Barbara Ann Truesdale. A special friend Pat Hendrix and numerous nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces.
Welch retired from Springs Industries after 44 years. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church. He served in the SC National Guard in the Jefferson unit. He enjoyed walking, growing tomatoes, martin bird keeping, NASCAR racing, and motorcycles.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 16th, 2022, in the Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. Mike Hammond will officiate. Burial will follow in the cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
