Obituary for Doris Magdalene B. Austin
A funeral service for Doris Magdalene Bowers Austin, 87, of Kershaw, will be held at 3:00 o’clock p.m., Wednesday, February 7, in the sanctuary of Abney Baptist Church. The Revs. Scott Robinson and Larry Plyler and Mr. David Crosby will conduct the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Austin died Sunday, February 4, at KershawHealth, Camden. Born in Kershaw, she was a daughter of the late William Jessie Bowers and Ethel Mae Horton Bowers. She retired from the Kendall Co. Mrs. Austin was a faithful member of Abney Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and GA Leader, served on the hostess committee, and sang in the choir. She also enjoyed crocheting and working in her yard and flower gardens.
She is survived by her loving husband, J V Austin of the home; 5 daughters, Barbara A. (Kenneth) Wallace of Camden, Deborah A. (James “Jimmy”) Willis, Donna A. (John) Green, both of Kershaw, Sherry A. (David) Crosby of Swansea and Robin A. (Mark) Wolfe of Kershaw; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and her sister, Patricia Barco of Floral City, FL. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 grandchildren, a brother and a sister.
The family will receive friends immediately following the committal service in the church Family Life Center and other times at the home.
