Obituary for Clifford G. Sowell
Funeral services for Clifford Gay Sowell, 85 of Heath Springs will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 29, 2013, in the sanctuary of Pleasant Plain Baptist Church, Kershaw. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. Todd Montgomery and Will Washburn will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside in the cemetery and other times at the home, 5695 Longville Post Rd., Heath Springs. Mr. Sowel,l widower of Betty Faulkenberry Sowell died Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at his home. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the later Edgar Luther and Ila Naomi Gay Sowell. Mr. Sowell retired form DuPont Co. and was a active member of Pleasant Plain Baptist Church. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Surviving are 2 daughters, Deborah Sowell Christmas and her husband Ron of Georgetown, S.C., Kathy Sowell Catoe and her husband Rex of Kershaw, a son, Danny Sowell and his wife Celia of Heath Springs; 12 grandchildren, Britton Christmas, Devin McManus, Brad Christmas, Ron Christmas, Jr., Kendra Hahm, Gary Christmas, Kristie Mosier, Nicole Sutton, Shannon Horton, Daniel Sowell, Luke Sowell and Sarah Sowell; 20 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Grace S. Roberts of Kershaw and Inez S. Hatchell of Florence, S.C. He was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Creigan Steele; 2 sisters, Joan S. Vincent, Carliene S. Hancock Dorman and a brother, Paul Sowell. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Plain Baptist Church, 3777 Pleasant Plains Rd., Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
