Obituary for Clifford Blackmon, Jr.
Funeral services for Clifford Blackmon, Jr., 79 of Heath Springs will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2014, in the sanctuary of Flint Ridge Baptist Church. Rev. Kelvin Hinson will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Blackmon, loving husband of Sarah Humphries Blackmon died Sunday, May 11, 2014, at his home. Born in Heath Springs, he was the son of the late Clifford Sam and Cola Couch Blackmon. Mr. Blackmon retired from Jerry Carnes Plumbing and was a member of Flint Ridge Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching wrestling, old western movies and riding his tractor. Surviving in addition to his wife of 62 years of the home are 2 daughters, Carolyn B. Wells and her husband Mike of Heath Springs, Shirley B. Needham and her husband Robert of Los Angeles, CA; a son, Tony Blackmon and his wife Wendy of Heath Springs; 5 grandchildren, Melanie Reed and her boyfriend, Michael Gautreau of Heath Springs, Kimberly Bennett and her husband Wade of Los Angeles, CA, James White (Benjamin),of Brighton, England, Jade Harris and her husband Tommy of Lancaster, Mark Baker and his wife Brooke of Lancaster; 9 great grandchildren, Robbie Reed, Jr., Natalie Reed, Jasimane Hilliard, Khristian Bennett, Justin Payne, Joshua Helms, Travis Harris, Daniel Helms and Tanner Baker; and a brother, Ben Blackmon of Lancaster. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, May 13, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Baker Conference Center, 105 N. Minor Street, Kershaw and other times at the home of his daughter, 4352 Sam Blackmon Rd., Heath Springs.
