Claude C. Phillips

Claude C. Phillips, 82, of Kershaw, S.C. passed away, Sunday evening, February 5, 2023, at MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center, Lancaster, S.C. Mr. Phillips was born, October 29, 1940, in Lancaster, S.C. He was born to the late Ira Lee Vernon Phillips and Bertha Amerson Phillips. Mr. Phillips was married to the late Patricia J. Phillips for 59 wonderful years until her death in 2019. He retired from General Tire after 30 years of service.

Mr. Phillips loved the Lord and served him through music for 60 years. He also served as Minister of Music at multiple churches. He was a member of the Songsmen singing group. Family was everything to him. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He spent most of his time watching sports, especially the Carolina Gamecocks. He was a lifetime member of Jackson Masonic Lodge # 53, Lancaster, S.C.

Mr. Phillips leaves behind to cherish his memory, his son, Joel Phillips and his special friend, Shelley; his daughter, Claudette Roberts and her husband, Brian; grandchildren, Brandy (Archer), Lyndsay (T.J.), Philip, Eric, Dakota, Dalton, Hailey, Hannah and Aly; great grandchildren, Hayden, Sadie Claire, Bentlee and Harper and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Gina Phillips; a grandson, Patrick and seven brothers and sisters.

The family will greet friends, Wednesday, February 8, 2023, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., at Baker Conference Center, 105 N. Minor Street, Kershaw, S.C. 29067 and other times at the home of his daughter.

The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the Conference Center. The Revs. Mike Lyles and Jack Lyles will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Laurel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Kershaw, S.C., with masonic rites rendered from the graveside.
