Obituary for Christine Mungo Roberts
A funeral service for Christine Mungo Roberts, 86 of Kershaw, SC, will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, August 6, 2015, in Midway Baptist Church. The Rev. Todd Gandy will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Roberts, loving wife of the late Rev. Arthur Jackson “Jack” Roberts passed away peacefully, Sunday, August 2, in White Oak Manor, Lancaster. Born in the Charlesboro community of Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Louis Minor “Pete” and Edna Morgan Mungo. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and a faithful member of Midway Baptist Church. Her teaching career carried her to Buford High School, Lancaster, Flat Creek High School, Kershaw, Rutledge High School, Rutledge, TN, Barr Street High School, Lancaster and Petersburg Elementary School, Pageland, totaling thirty three years she dedicated to education. Mrs. Roberts was also a devoted minister’s wife alongside her husband. She helped minister with him at the following churches, Sherwood Baptist Church, Lancaster, Taylors Grove Baptist Church, Lancaster, Fairview Baptist Church, Hillsborough, NC, and Wolf Pond Baptist Church, Pageland.
Surviving are her three children, Lynn M. Roberts and his wife Kathy of Murrells Inlet, SC, Tina R. Anderson of Kershaw; Timmy Morgan Roberts and his wife Carla of Mesa, AZ; six grandchildren, Emily, Hannah, Seth, Ethan, Sarah, Chloe, and a great granddaughter, Julianna.
The family will receive friends and visitors on Wednesday, August 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 o’clock p.m., at Baker Funeral Home and other times at her home.
