Obituary for Charlotte D. Ogburn

Charlotte Dunn Ogburn, 79, of Jefferson, S.C., passed away, Tuesday morning, September 27, 2022, at her home. Born in Kershaw, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Bratania Ann “Tannie” Morgan Dunn and Willie Wilson Dunn.

Charlotte was a graduate of Kershaw High School, where she was a former homecoming queen and a faithful member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Her career was dedicated to helping others, she helped and assisted customers at Simpson’s Drug Store and Thomas Drugs for 45 years. She always offered compassion to the sick and a warm smile. She loved watching game shows on television, planting flowers and working in her vegetable garden. Charlotte especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.


She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Charles L. Ogburn of the home; her daughter, Kalena Reeves and her husband, Jason; 3 adored grandchildren, Kassidy, Braxton and Brady; her nephew, Darren Thames and his wife, Blenda and their children, Clint (Ashley) Turner and Jake (Stacey) Turner and her niece, Tiffany Thames Hight. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Shelbia Jean Dunn Thames.


A funeral service to remember her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday morning, September 29, 2022, in the sanctuary of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Rev. Terry Corder will officiate.


The family will greet friends immediately following the church service in the church Family Life Center.


A private burial will follow the visitation with the family only at the graveside.


Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Ogburn may be made to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 2140 McBee Highway, Jefferson, S.C. 29718.


Arrangements are under the care of Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw, S.C.
