Obituary for Carrie Jewell Outen
Carrie Jewell Outen, 74, widow of W.L. Outen, died at her home Tuesday, September 22. Born in Saltville, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Hobert Lee and Florence Johnson Holmes. Mrs. Outen had retired from Springs Industries and attended House of Prayer. She loved gospel music and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are three sons, Ronnie Outen, Donnie Lee Outen (Sharon), and Michael Outen all of Kershaw; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Lee Holmes (Debbie) of Kershaw, and Elmer Holmes (Erma) of Maryland and two sisters, Patsy Fitzwater (Armor), and Carol Simmons, both of Maryland. She was predeceased by 4 sisters.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 26, at 12:00 o’clock noon in Baker Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow in House of Prayer Church Cemetery. Rev. Charles Watkins will officiate.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 25, from 6:00 o’clock p.m. to 8:00 o’clock p.m. in Baker Funeral Home.
